WHAT IS WALKING FOOTBALL

Walking Football is a modified version of association football (soccer) with small-sided games, no tackling and of course as the name suggests – no running.

The ball is not allowed to go above head height and throw-ins are replaced with kick-ins. All free kicks are indirect and size 4 balls are used.

The modified rules allow men and women to participate in a sport that they may not have played since they were teenagers. Walking Football is aimed at Men over the age of 50 years old and Women of all ages.

Games are generally six or five a side and can be played indoors or outdoors on grass or astro turf.

Walking Football was initially established in the United Kingdom and is is one of the fastest growing participation sports globally with new groups popping up in various countries around the world.

In Australia, Walking Football is particularly strong in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.
